When you are expecting a baby, it sometimes feels like there are a million things on your to-do list. Pack the hospital bag. Install the car seat. Clean the house. Freezer meals. The list goes on and on. Here’s one more thing to add to your to do list, gift baskets for the nurses. Is this required? Absolutely not! But, it’s so worth it.
With my first, I didn’t do a gift basket and later wished I had. I wanted some way to thank the nurses other than just saying, “thank you.” My second go around, I decided to make snack baskets for the nurses. The nurses LOVED them and were so appreciative.
Since I was having a boy, I chose to do blue-themed snack baskets. I made two baskets, one for labor and delivery and the other for postpartum.
Gift Basket Snack Ideas
Here’s a list of ideas for blue-themed snacks in case you’d like to make your own gift baskets, too. Doing the blue theme was just fun for me, and the snacks were fun for the nurses.

Assembling the Gift Baskets
To assemble the gift baskets, you’ll just need some sort of basket or box to put all the fun snacks into. I really enjoyed putting these snack baskets together. I just played around with putting the snacks into the baskets and arranging them to my liking. Afterwards, I attached a card with a thank you to the nurses.
When we left for the hospital, we took one of the baskets with us and left the other one with my parents to drop off later, because I didn’t want the chocolate melting in the car. So I was holding my box of goodies while being wheeled up to the labor and delivery unit. I figured I would feel pretty silly if I got sent home, but thankfully, that didn’t happen. The nurses were SO excited about the snacks, and I was so glad that I had the snacks to give the nurses as a small thank you.
