- Think on These Things Challenge, Part 1
- Think on These Things Challenge, Part 2
- Think on These Things Challenge, Part 3 (You are here)
This challenge is well on its way. Hopefully, you have had some extra special time meditating on God’s Word in these past eight weeks.
Even if you are struggling to memorize the verses, just reading and truly thinking on these things of the LORD will allow your heart to grow closer to Him.
Let’s go over the next four verses in the challenge!
Bible Verse (TTT) Challenge, Part 3
Verse #9
Matthew 6:21 KJV
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Where are you storing up treasures? In today’s world, it is so easy to be consumed with the next best thing and trying to make all the money we can. We often want the best house and the best car, the best vacation and the biggest retirement plan. But these treasure aren’t lasting and certainly should not be the focus of our hearts.
When we focus on heavenly treasure, are hearts turn from the things of this world to the lasting treasures of God. Our attention should be on storing up heavenly treasure by serving our LORD here on earth. After death, those treasures are the only things you can keep. All of our earthly treasure will tarnish and fade, and you can’t take those with you. Our heavenly treasures never lose their splendor.
Verse #10
Philippians 4:6 KJV
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
God wants to hear from us. He wants us to make requests unto Him. No matter how great or small the circumstance, take it to God. It can be something as simple as praying you find your lost keys, but God cares. Don’t ever hold back a request you feel is too small. Give it to God and allow Him to work in your life.
This verse also says that we should ask with thanksgiving. While praying, let’s not forget to thank our Father for the many wonderful things He has done for us. He is worthy of all our praise.
Verse #11
Psalm 33:11 KJV
The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
“The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever.” God’s wisdom is never outdated. His truth standeth forever. We can always rely on the counsel of God because He is omniscient. The verse continues by saying that very thoughts of God’s heart are upon all generations. God is always present and always caring for the present generation. His thoughts shall stand forever.
Verse #12
Colossians 3:2 KJV
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Similarly to Matthew 6:21, this verse reminds us again to focus on the things of Heaven. When our thoughts are on our Father, our love and affection is turned upwards. It’s okay to desire nice earthly things, but the passion of hearts needs to be Christ-centered.
A Heavenly Focus
This Think on These Things Challenge is all about remembering what is truly important in our lives. For, one day we will look back and realize our earthly possessions are worthless and our heavenly treasures are priceless. Let’s keep our focus upward.
