Christmas is by far my favorite time of the year, and I love sharing my joy of Christmas with my children. One part of Christmas that I loved as a child was Christmas books. While some have simple stories, these Christmas books are wonderful for children (and adults) of all ages. Some of my favorites growing up are on this list of Christmas books for children.

Many of these stories have different formats available, so you can choose what works best for your child’s age.

Christmas Books for Children

Let’s get started with one of my favorites growing up. It’s a must-have in my opinion.

The Tale of Three Trees

The Tale of Three Trees is a heart-touching story about three trees and their dreams. These noble trees had big plans on how should be used, but their ideas didn’t turn out exactly like they thought they would, but better. This sweet book shows us how God can use situations that to us seem bad and turn them into something wonderful that glorifies Him.

Christmas in the Manger

Christmas in the Manger is a sweet book with a simple storyline, best suited for young children. This book tells the story of Christmas from different perspectives – from the wise men to the donkey.

The Legend of the Candy Cane

Another favorite from my childhood, The Legend of the Candy Cane is a beautiful story about a candy man and the legend of the candy cane. This book really emphasized the true meaning of Christmas.

The book version with illustrations by James Bernardin are absolutely beautiful. If you can get your hands on that version, I highly recommend it.

It’s a Wonderful Life

Based off of the movie, this It’s a Wonderful Life book is a simplified version of the movie with adorable illustrations. Although not a Bible-based story, this book teaches a valuable life lesson about God’s purpose for our lives.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

A definite, Christmas classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is fan-favorite for good reason. Children old and young are sure to enjoy this timeless Christmas story.

Christmas Time: It’s All about Jesus!

Christmas Time: It’s All about Jesus! is a simplified version of the Christmas story. With rhyming lines and cute illustrations, this book can help you tell the Biblical account of Christmas to your children.

Christmas Books

These Christmas books are a great way to spark some Christmas spirit into your children this season. Four of these books focus on the true meaning of Christmas and are helpful in teaching your children about our Saviour. My two favorites from this list are “The Tale of Three Trees” and “The Legend of the Candy Cane.” Check them out and see if you and your children enjoy them as much as we do.
